Jenny Carpenter
Jenny Carpenter Positive Parenting Course
Before I started the course I was feeling really down – all I seemed to do was tell the kids off, in-between rushing backwards and forwards to work! It was stressing me out and wasn’t that great for the kids either. Working on the course helped me to change the way I related to them both – I learned how to address problems more positively. My coach, Ruth, was fantastic and always there to listen. I still have too much to do – but the time I spend with my kids now is fun for all of us! Priceless!

Courses for Parents include: Positive Parenting, Child Psychology, Play Therapy Skills for Parents, Understanding ADHD, Understanding ASDs, and Understanding Dyslexia.

Kate Weaver
Kate Weaver Garden Design Diploma
Garden Design has been my dream job for a long time, but juggling work and caring for two growing children, I thought there was no way I could do the necessary training, so I was really pleased when I found this course. Studying by distance learning suited me perfectly, it meant I could plan study around work and family life, and I could take a break when I needed to too. I may not have been Lydia’s fastest student ever, but after two years I have my diploma and a portfolio of work I’m really proud of. What’s more I’ve just completed my first paid design project! The course was just what I was looking for – the material is excellent and I loved the personal tutor support – Lydia was great at keeping me on track and helping me to create a really professional portfolio of work. I probably asked a lot of daft questions in the early days, but she never once made me feel that – she was always supportive and patient.

Jude Holloway Advanced Life Coaching Diploma
I’ve just finished the Life Coaching Advanced Diploma course and would like to say thanks to all the team – I’ve really enjoyed the course and found it incredibly useful. Although I’ve offered coaching as part of my work role for a number of years, the course offered a fresh perspective and really helped me to bring all of my experience and knowledge together. The advice on setting up a Life Coaching business was also invaluable. My tutor has been a great source of advice throughout the course and we’re still in touch regularly as I set up my new coaching business. I can’t recommend the course highly enough. It’s incredible value for money.

Susan Osborne
Susan Osborne Counselling Children and Young People
I’ve worked in education for over 20 years, but in recent years I’ve spent more and more time offering emotional support to children, some of whom are wrangling with quite difficult issues. Although I had a basic counselling skills certificate, that didn’t seem enough. Counselling Children and Young People gave me a range of practical strategies I could use in my every day work with young people, as well as understanding more about the underlying issues. It was also useful to have contact with other students who were experienced counsellors – it gave me a completely different perspective on some issues.

Claire Hanson
Claire Hanson Play Therapy Skills
I loved the practical focus in this course. It gave me a lot of useful ideas that I could apply straight away in school, and we’ve also introduced many new activities designed to help the children develop their emotional skills. The tutor was a great source of support and advice throughout the process. The course really opened my eyes to the many different, non-verbal ways in which we can communicate with children, and just as importantly how we can help them to explore their own feelings and experiences in a supportive way.

The course shows students how to communicate with children effectively through play, and also shows how play can be a means of teaching children essential personal and social skills. The course also includes a clear outline of the theory of play and play therapy, as well as many practical suggestions on how play therapy can be used in different settings.

Claire Newell Mentoring Skills for Schools
This is an interesting and informative course, packed with useful practical ideas for work in school. It gave me the confidence I needed to go accept a new job as a mentor and then play a lead role in creating a full mentoring programme across 6 schools! My tutor, Mary, was fab all the way through – nothing too much trouble and always got back to me quickly. A real star!
