With just 6 hours study time a week, you’ll be able to complete an accredited training course and earn a CPD Certificate of Course Completion. A great addition to your cv, as well as helping you to develop new skills ready for Autumn.

Our summer courses are based on some of our most popular full-length courses, allowing you to explore subjects of most interest to you without making a long-term time commitment.

Our courses are delivered online by PDF directly to your email box. You can save them to your computer or tablet, or print them off – ideal for taking on holiday, relaxing in the garden, or making the most of quiet summer evenings.

Our summer courses cost just £130 each – they include full tutorial support by email and instant chat (our instant chat support is available between 9am and 9pm each day) and are designed to be completed in 4 weeks, with just 6 hours study time per week. Each course includes two tutor-marked assignments.
The assignments are a mixture of multiple choice and short answer questions (expect for writing courses, see individual descriptions).

Introduction to Working as a Learning Mentor

This short course provides a comprehensive introduction to the work of a learning mentor in schools, giving you the skills and knowledge you need to begin applying for posts in this area. Students who successfully complete both assignments are awarded a CPD Certificate of Course Completion.

Module 1: Core Mentoring Skills; Module 2: Understanding Children in Context; Module 3: Supporting Learning; Module 4: Promoting Emotional and Psychological Well-Being.

Using Counselling Skills in School

Learn how to use core counselling skills to provide emotional support to children and young people. Includes an introduction to CBT theory and play therapy skills. Students who successfully complete both assignments are awarded a CPD Certificate of Course Completion.

Developing Children’s Emotional Literacy

This four week course shows you how to support children and young people in developing their emotional literacy, including many useful practical activities and examples as well as exploring underpinning theory. Managing Challenging Behaviour

Begin the new term with a range of new strategies and approaches to managing challenging behaviour. This course takes a strongly practical approach to behaviour management, whilst providing a clear grounding in current theory. Students who successfully both assignments are awarded a CPD Certificate of Course Completion.

Developing Your Assertiveness Skills

The activities and assignments throughout the course will help you to develop the confidence and skills you need to make a positive, lasting impression and achieve your goals. You will be supported throughout the course by an online assertiveness coach who you can contact by email at any time. Your coach will help you to maintain focus, put your new skills into practice, as well as identifying and challenging barriers to your new, more assertive relating style.

Created for practising life coaches or business coaches, this course shows you how to offer effective online coaching support to your clients, either as part of an integrated practice, or a fully online practice.

Writing

Writing for Children

During this course you’ll learn how to write effective fiction and non-fiction for children. You’ll learn how to market your work successfully, identify suitable markets, build relationships with publishers and editors, and work effectively with your editorial team. All of our tutors are also successful children’s writers. There are two writing assignments during the course which can be adapted to suit your writing interests.

Module 1: Children and Young People as Readers; Module 2: Markets for Children’s Writing; Module 3: Developing as a Children’s Writer; Module 4: Working as a Team: Illustrators, Editors and Publishers.

Writing Short Stories

During this intensive course you’ll learn how to create well-structured, engaging short stories. You’ll also learn how to create authentic characters and write realistic dialogue. All of our tutors are also successful children’s writers. There are two writing assignments during the course which can be adapted to suit your writing interests.
